Kate Hudson has a talent as an actor. She is most well-known for her performance as Penny Lane from the Hollywood movie Almost Famous. Her nomination for the Academy Award was her best-known role. Born into a film family, Hudson seemed destined to be in the spotlight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She was a performer from an early age. Her parents ensured she received dancing classes, and she was also trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse when she was a kid. She began acting when she was offered a role on the TV drama Party of Five in the year 1996. The show was a success and she was admitted to New York University, however Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business rather than earning an education. After acting in minor films in the past, she was offered a role which would become the focus of her career. She was cast as Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. Although the film failed in the box office, it was well received by the critics and it made Kate a star in the American movie industry.
