Lucy Liu was born in America. Liu is an American actress, a singer and voice-over artist. An attractive and intelligent actor, she is an example to many Asian actors who aspire to become famous in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in television shows that were popular, she became famous after being cast on the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she played Ling Woo. Her new-found fame was translated into roles that were filmed on the large screen in Shanghai Noon, Charlie's Angels and several other films. The film Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an impressive performance in the role of Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. She also played leading parts in box office flops like Rise: Blood Hunter. Then she began voicing characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia and other small-screen parts, did not achieve any kind of success. Southland is a critically acclaimed police drama that Liu starred in on a regular basis played a part that allowed her to be a famous as an actress. Liu is careful when choosing roles in order to avoid being a stereotype in a field which is extremely competitive. Although she is proud of her heritage but she doesn't let that limit her creativity.
