Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift removed the influences of country as if they were an additional layer of skin. She revealed that she was among the best singers/songwriters of the generation she was born into. Swift could make the event personal and use the moment to benefit. The first songs she released like the Neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament of her ability. However, her second album Fearless from 2008 showed the songwriter finding her voice and a wider public. Fearless went on to become a global hit, not only in the United States (where it received six times platinum for the Top Ten Hits Love Story as well as "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia and the U.K. as well as other nations. Swift could build on her progress through Speak Now almost two year later. The singer's popularity increased over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within the genre she was a part of. Although she slowed down her approach with 2020's stripped-down siblings' folklore and Evermore she was still atop the world of pop, a position she kept with the re-recordings of her back catalog along with Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
